
Esther Grimes
Clinical Social Worker
Esther is an experienced youth mental health clinician who works with young people throughout their adolescence and early adulthood. Esther studied her Masters of Social Work at Monash University and has worked for Mind Australia, the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and for the last four years has worked for Alfred Health as part of the clinical headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program. Esther is experienced working with people struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, psychosis, voice hearing, gender and sexual identity, interpersonal challenges and emotional regulation. Over the years working in youth mental health, Esther has developed a strong appreciation for young people’s transition through individuation and the creation of their own identity.
Esther has profound respect for every person’s unique story and journey. Esther believes that each of us has the inherent capacity for healing within us and that the therapeutic relationship can provide the space for this to happen. Esther works in an embodied way with openness, empathy and compassion. Esther’s therapeutic style utilises Person-Centred and Systemic Theories, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy, Mindfulness and Relaxation strategies.
Esther is passionate about sustainability and the natural environment. She deeply connects with the pain and uncertainty of our current time and believes that climate change is having a profound impact on our individual journeys, connections with each other and the natural world. Esther is committed to holding space for the pain, grief and uncertainty that can be part of looking toward the future for people at this point in time.
